Fortaleza Winter Blend 2019 is the inaugural release in Fortaleza’s annual Winter Blend series, produced at Tequila Los Abuelos (NOM 1493) in Tequila, Jalisco. Crafted from mature Blue Weber agave grown in the Tequila Valley (Los Valles), this limited-edition Reposado showcases Fortaleza’s traditional production methods while exploring unique barrel maturation to create a one-of-a-kind expression. The tequila is slow-cooked in traditional stone and brick ovens, crushed using a tahona, and fermented without fibers in open-air wooden tanks (pipones) using deep well water. After double distillation in copper pot stills, the spirit is matured in a combination of used bourbon barrels and French oak barrels, creating additional layers of vanilla, baking spice, toasted oak, dried fruit, and subtle sweetness while preserving Fortaleza’s signature cooked agave character. Bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof) and produced without additives, Winter Blend 2019 is a highly sought-after annual release that highlights both traditional tequila craftsmanship and innovative barrel finishing.
